Concrete and the Farm Environment
The farm environment is very demanding on concrete. Expo sure to acidic feed, milk, manure and cleaning fluids along with mechanical abrasion from farm vehicles often results in signify cant damage to concrete, requiring concrete to be repaired or replaced early in its service life.

Stainable

  • The unsealed (antique white) overlay will take water based or solvent based stains and dyes. In many cases the overlay can be cast, stained, and sealed in one day.

 

Polishable

  • Agri-Rok can be polished the day after placement in most cases.

 

Greater long Term Strength

  • Trinic’s Agri-Rok overlay has greater long-term strength than concrete made with OPC, due to the denser matrix and special additives. The 28-day strength of Trinic’s Agri- Rok overlay is greater than 10,000 PSI, more than twice the strength of ordinary concrete.

 

Increased Resistance to Acids

  • Trinic’s Agri-Rok Overlay has a much lower porosity and permeability than concrete made with Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). Pore sizes are smaller and less numerous. This reduces the rate of penetration of acids into the concrete, giving enhanced protection from acids, erosion and abrasion damage. When combined with Trinic’s Agri-Rok sealer the system is ready for use in as little as 5 hours

 

Increased Resistance to Sulphates

  • Sulphates can be present in feed, slurry, manure and wastewater. Sulphates react with calcium oxide (free lime) present in concrete, causing the concrete to expand and crack. Trinic’s Agri-Rok overlay is a sulphate-resisting fast setting, cementitious composition with excellent adhesion. Com- bined with Trinic’s Agri-Rok sealer, the system offers fast track, high performance optimum protection against sulphate attack.
  • Trinic’s Agri-Rok overlay can be used to effectively repair damaged concrete feed areas or slabs, eliminating the need for early replacement.

Installation Instructions

1. Agri-Rok comes in 50 lb. batches packaged in 5 gallon buckets.  Each 50 lbs. of material yields about 21.5 sq. ft. at ¼” thick.

2. Install when the surface temperature of the concrete is between 40and 90 degrees. Do not install in direct sunlight or very windy conditions.

3. Thoroughly clean the area to be re-surfaced with a pressure washer, blow the standing water off the concrete.  Dampen the area with water (no standing water) if the area has been previously cleaned and allowed to dry.

4. Mix and apply Agri-Rok Overlay to the damp floor using a trowel or squeegee to spread the material.  Agri-Rok will remain very fluid for about a minute so it is best to spread the material quickly then allow it to level on its own.

5. Agri-Rok overlay can be applied from a feather edge to 3” deep.

6. Add grit to the surface (if required for traction) while the material is still fluid.

7. Allow Agri-Rok to reach its initial set, usually 1 to 2 hours depending on temperature. Initial set is when you can walk on it without leaving an indent or you can rub your fingers on it and not lift any material.

8. Seal the project with Trinic’s Agri-Rok sealer. You can apply the sealer with an acetone safe sprayer or a 3/8” nap roller. Wet out the surface of the Agri-Rok with sealer without puddling.  The sealer will flash off very quickly.

9. Allow a couple of hours before returning the completed project to use.
